Catholics for a Free Choice

I just visited the web site of what may be the most dangerous group of self proclaimed Catholics I've ever seen. I say that not because their ideas are so completely off the wall that only a handful of people would take them seriously. In fact, it's just the opposite. It is a group of religious radicals that seeks to replace the authority of the Church with their own liberal doctrine. I am talking about the CFFC.

What makes this group so dangerous is that they are passing themselves off as real Catholics. To be a Catholic, one must recognize the authority of the Church. These folks do no such thing. These people are wolves in sheep's clothing luring many uninformed Catholics into a false sense of security by preaching the gospel of the culture of death (contraception is OK, abortion is OK, etc.) as if it were part of the catechism. This false doctrine is all too readily accepted by our liberal brothers and sisters who see themselves as "forward thinking progressives." I fear for the future of the Catholic church if people like this are not dealt with publicly and decisively (i.e. censure and/or excommunication).

"...a group of relgious radicals that seeks to replace the authority of the Church with their own liberal doctrine..." Oh no! They're protestants!

I personally like how you throw your heavy gut weight around by telling us what you have to believe in order to be a Catholic. But how Catholicy are you?

Are you against the death penalty? You have to be if you're going to pass yourself off as a real Catholic. Are you against the war in Iraq? You have to be if you're going to pass yourself off as a real Catholic. Do you ever refrain from using protection when you engage in missionary (and soley missionary) sexual acts? You have to if you're going to pass yourself off as a real Catholic. Are you against sports on Sundays because it takes away reflection time with God? You have to be if you're going to pass yourself off as a real Catholic. Do you ever pray to Mary or angels? Do you revere Mary as you would the cross or Jesus or God or a golden idol? You have to be if you're going to pass yourself off as a real Catholic.

It would seem that you're not all that Catholicy. Or even all that Christiany.

Oh yeah, and kudos and snaps and all that jazz on dealing with "forward-thinking progressives" by ignoring their complaints and kicking them out of the Church. For you, my small-minded/dicked friend, are the voice of God on earth. Thank you for believing that anyone who disagrees with you will face God's wrath. You are truly a beautiful Catholic. Go forth and shine your bigotted light to the masses. I await your guidance like a sheep seeking a shepard.

Await no longer my little black sheep, for your shepard has arrived!

I don't have a problem with Protestants (as you seem to imply), provided they aren't claiming to be Catholic and trying to usurp the authority of the Vatican over the Catholic Church.

If I told you I was a vegetarian while eating a nice cut of medium rare filet mignon, do you think vegetarians would be offended? Should I chastise the "small minded" sect of exclusionary vegetarians who insist that real vegetarians shouldn't eat meat? Should I start a group called "Vegetarians for Free Choice" and advocate carnivorous eating habits?

As far as your notions of Catholic doctrine, you're right about the death penalty (which I am against) but you're off to varying degrees on everything else. I suggest you ask a priest to explain the church's teachings on these subjects since you obviously object vehemently to my interpretations.

And next time, please try to bash my head in without the unnecessary profanity. It only detracts from your credibility.

Now, go in peace.

I just added an e-mail address to my profile. Now I'll just have to remember to check it. What was it again...
