Spoonbills are by far the dominant species in this area. Many hunters here (especially in marsh areas) won't shoot them at all. They have a reputation as poor table fare. I've never had any issues with eating them. If there are bigger, better ducks in the area I'll usually let them go. As you can see from the pic, this wasn't one of my better years.

shot a spoonie this year. will be on the dinner table like the rest of my ducks. boy they fold easy!
